Artists Robert Rauschenberg and Darryl Pottorf traveled to Marrakech, Morocco in June 1999 to take photographs for use in their printmaking endeavors at the Los Angeles workshop, Gemini G.E.L.. The newly-published screenprints incorporating images from this colorful and exotic part of the world are on view at Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl in soho during the month of September 2000.
Rauschenberg and Pottorf embrase the world and all of its rich diversity. The pursuit of imagery for use in their art is global, beginning with the local surroundings in Florida, where they live, and extending to anywhere their curiosity takes them. These exceptional new prints are second in their series of city explorations ofr Gemini, following the successful L.A. Uncovered body of work published in 1998.
