Eleven new prints by architect Frank Gehry will be on view at Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl from April 22 through May 28, 2010. These ten lithographs and one etching recently published by the Los Angeles-based artists workshop Gemini G.E.L. depict various architectural projects – some recently completed as well as some unrealized.  While the prints in this series are not actual preparatory sketches, they reflect the creative genius behind some of Gehry’s most iconic buildings.

Richard Serra once again pushes the boundaries of printmaking with five new large-scale etchings. These prints are evidence of this renowned artist’s continued ability to convey on paper the weight and monumentality of his sculpture. Over the years, Serra has worked closely with Gemini master printers to develop new techniques for creating astonishing texture in his etchings. The resulting rough, raised surfaces – the texture of which was derived from rubbings of asphalt road paving – compel viewers to experience the prints in a very physical, three-dimensional manner.

The eight exquisitely and intimately colored etchings created by Richard Tuttle in collaboration with the Los Angeles-based artist workshop, Gemini G.E.L. will be on view from January 20 – February 27, 2010, at Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl.

This is Gemini’s first collaboration with Richard Tuttle, a postminimalist artist known for fragile objects made of unusual materials such as wire, rope, and scraps of paper.  The prints in this series combine Tuttle’s delicately-drawn etched lines with geometric forms created by the artist’s forceful hammering of copper plates.

The nine colorful screenprints recently created by Joel Shapiro in collaboration with the Los Angeles-based artist workshop, Gemini G.E.L. will be on view from November 10 – December 12, 2009 at Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl.

Joel Shapiro is perhaps best-known for his large sculptures in which he uses color and form to highlight and set apart individual elements of the work of art. He has flawlessly brought this same sculptural language to a new series of works on paper, entitled Boat, Bird, Mother and Child.

Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl is pleased to present The Address Book, a new editioned work by French conceptual artist Sophie Calle, on view in the gallery from October 8 through November 7, 2009. Published by Gemini G.E.L. in a limited edition of 45, this work is the result of a first-ever collaboration between Calle and the Los Angeles-based artist workshop Gemini. Comprised of several components, fundamentally it is a revisitation of her engaging collection of stories, photographs and interviews published daily in August 1983 in the French newspaper Libération.

Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl is pleased to announce an exhibition featuring six artists working in both 2 and 3 dimensions. The exhibition aims to present a coherent conversation between the relationship of print and object – both in the material processes and the conceptual underpinnings. Articulating the idea of a unified visual narrative within each artist's oeuvre, the gallery will be filled with a selection of prints and editioned sculpture by Richard Artschwager, John Baldessari, Jonathan Borofsky, Ann Hamilton, Ellsworth Kelly and Susan Rothenberg.
